Somango XXL is a feminised, Somango-derived hybrid with an estimated 75% indica and 25% sativa profile. Its exact parentage is uncertain, so the genetic description is best viewed as a practical guide rather than a definitive family tree. Plants are associated with THC levels of approximately 15–21% and CBD levels of up to 1.5%.

Mango and ripe fruit lead the flavour profile, followed by a lightly spiced incense note. Myrcene, limonene and caryophyllene are the principal listed terpenes. Individual experiences vary, but some adults describe an energetic or euphoric opening that gradually develops into a strong sense of physical relaxation. Growing in New Zealand

This variety is suited to intermediate growers who can manage its vigour, nutrition and canopy size. It favours hot, dry or temperate conditions, making site selection important across New Zealand’s varied regions. Stable warmth, good airflow and protection from extended wet weather can help reduce risk from mould. Outdoor planting generally aligns with spring, from September to November, once local temperatures are consistently suitable.

Somango XXL can become a sizeable plant, so allow enough room for roots and lateral growth. Regular observation is useful because phenotype, environment and cultivation method can all influence height, flowering time, aroma and output.

Indoor

Indoors, plants may reach up to 120 cm. Training and canopy management can help make good use of available space and light. Its indica-dominant structure may produce substantial branching and dense floral growth, making air movement around the canopy especially important later in bloom.

The listed flowering period is approximately 8–9 weeks. Indoor yields may reach up to 675 g/m² under favourable conditions, although this is a potential figure rather than a fixed outcome. Lighting, container volume, root health, nutrition, temperature and grower experience will all affect performance.

Outdoor

Outdoors, Somango XXL may grow as tall as 220 cm and may produce up to 800 g per plant in favourable settings. A sunny, sheltered location with free-draining soil is a strong starting point. In humid or high-rainfall districts, wider spacing, selective pruning and regular inspection can support airflow through the plant.

Its size can make discretion and wind exposure practical considerations. Supports may also be useful as branches gain weight. The cultivar’s fruity aroma can become pronounced during flowering, with mango often remaining the favourite note among those who prefer tropical profiles.

Harvest

New Zealand outdoor harvest commonly falls between March and May. Exact timing depends on planting date, latitude, seasonal weather and phenotype. Rather than relying only on a calendar date, assess floral maturity and watch the forecast closely. Harvesting before prolonged autumn rain may reduce risk from moisture damage, while clean tools and careful handling help preserve aroma, colour and flower quality.
