Its heritage is commonly associated with Mendocino Purps, although the exact parentage remains uncertain. THC is listed at approximately 18–20%, while CBD is estimated at 0.1–0.8%.

Myrcene, caryophyllene and pinene contribute to a layered aroma combining ripe berry sweetness, damp earth and a distinctly skunky finish. Individual experiences vary, but users often describe the effects as calming, happy and deeply relaxed. Growing in New Zealand

This variety is considered best suited to growers with intermediate experience. Its compact, indica-led structure can be managed indoors, while outdoor plants may become broader and taller when conditions are favourable. Purple Urkle generally prefers a temperate or hot, dry climate. Good airflow and shelter from prolonged wet weather can reduce the risk of mould around dense flowers.

New Zealand’s southern-hemisphere calendar places spring planting between September and November. Outdoor timing varies between regions, with warmer northern areas generally offering a longer season than cooler or elevated locations. Indoor

Outdoors, plants may reach up to 180 cm and produce up to 600 g per plant in suitable conditions. A sunny, well-aerated position is preferable, particularly where autumn brings frequent rain. Feminised seeds are selected to produce predominantly female plants, simplifying garden planning. Even so, natural variation remains possible, and height, aroma, colour and productivity can differ between individual plants.

Harvest

For New Zealand outdoor gardens, harvest will typically fall between March and May, depending on planting date, latitude, local weather and phenotype. Indoor plants are usually ready around seven to eight weeks after flowering begins. Mature flowers are associated with sweet berry and earthy notes, followed by a stronger skunk accent. Careful handling and slow post-harvest drying can help retain the variety’s characteristic aroma and colour.
