Growing in New Zealand

This intermediate-level cultivar suits growers who are comfortable managing plant height, airflow and nutrition throughout a full photoperiod cycle. In New Zealand, outdoor planting generally aligns with spring, from September to November, once local conditions are reliably warm. Choose a sunny position with well-draining soil and enough space for lateral growth.

Permanent Marker is best matched with temperate or hot, dry conditions. Regional weather varies considerably, so growers should account for coastal humidity, cooler southern nights and autumn rain. Good spacing, selective pruning and shelter from prolonged wet weather can reduce risk from mould around dense flowers. Always check the rules that apply in your location before acquiring seeds or growing cannabis.

Indoor

Indoors, Permanent Marker can reach up to 170 cm. Training during vegetative growth can help create a broad, even canopy and keep taller branches away from lights. Techniques such as topping, low-stress training and support netting may be useful where space allows. Maintain consistent air movement through and beneath the canopy, especially as flowers gain weight.

The flowering period is approximately 8–10 weeks. Under favourable conditions, the listed indoor yield is up to 550 g/m², although final output depends on phenotype, environment and grower skill. Monitor humidity, irrigation and nutrition rather than pushing rapid growth, as stable conditions support uniform flower formation and preserve aroma.

Outdoor

A sheltered, north-facing site can make better use of available light. Stake or tie heavier branches before autumn weather arrives, and inspect closely after rain. In more humid districts, an open structure and prompt removal of damaged plant matter can reduce risk from mould.

Harvest

New Zealand outdoor harvest commonly falls between March and May. Timing will vary with planting date, latitude, phenotype and seasonal weather. Assess flower maturity directly rather than relying only on the calendar. The listed outdoor yield is up to 850 g per plant in favourable conditions, but this is an indicative maximum rather than an assured result. Expect a vivid mix of green shades, contrasting pistils and a thick resinous finish, with the sweet, soapy citrus character often becoming especially noticeable late in flowering.
