Its profile is approximately 70% sativa and 30% indica, pairing energetic growth with a more balanced finish. Reported THC content ranges from 25% to 33%, while CBD is listed at 0% to 0.5%. Cannabinoid expression can vary with phenotype, environment and cultivation technique.

Limonene, caryophyllene and myrcene are associated with its fruity, sweet and candy-like flavour profile. Individual experiences are subjective, but Nova OG may feel cerebral, focused and happy at first, followed by a relaxed quality. Some people also describe an increased appetite. Growing in New Zealand

Nova OG is considered an intermediate-level option that suits temperate or hot, dry conditions. Its sativa influence can produce vigorous vertical growth, so early canopy planning is useful. In New Zealand’s southern-hemisphere cycle, outdoor planting generally takes place during spring, from September to November. Local temperatures, rainfall, daylight hours and site exposure should guide exact timing.

Good airflow and shelter from persistent rain can help reduce risk from mould as flowers gain density. Keep the growing area clean, avoid prolonged moisture around foliage and provide enough room between plants. Regular observation is especially helpful during rapid growth and late flowering.

Indoor

Indoors, Nova OG can reach up to 150 cm and has a reported flowering period of approximately 8–9 weeks. Training and an even canopy can make its stretch easier to manage while improving light distribution. Strong air movement, stable temperatures and suitable extraction are helpful for maintaining a consistent environment.

Reported indoor yield reaches up to 500 g/m² under favourable conditions. This is a reference figure rather than a fixed outcome, as results depend on phenotype, lighting, container size, nutrition, environment and grower experience. Support may be useful later in flowering if branches begin carrying heavier clusters.

Outdoor

Outdoors, plants may reach up to 200 cm where root space, sunlight and weather are suitable. Choose a warm, bright position with free-draining soil and protection from strong wind. The cultivar’s preference for temperate or hot, dry conditions makes moisture management important in wetter New Zealand districts.

Outdoor yield is reported at up to 600 g per plant in favourable settings. Allow space for branching, maintain airflow through the structure and inspect dense flower sites after rain. In exposed areas, discreet staking can support taller growth without restricting movement.

Harvest

New Zealand outdoor harvest generally falls between March and May, depending on latitude, planting time, phenotype and seasonal weather. Rather than relying only on a calendar date, assess flower maturity and overall plant condition. Indoors, use the 8–9-week flowering estimate as a planning guide.

After harvest, careful drying and ageing can help preserve Nova OG’s sweet fruit, candy notes and characteristic colour. Use a dark, well-ventilated space with stable conditions, and handle flowers gently to retain their aromatic character.
