Kosher Kush is an 80% indica and 20% sativa feminised cultivar with an OG Kush-derived lineage, although its exact parentage is not firmly established. Its dense aromatic profile combines earthy, pungent and skunky notes with pine, spice and a lift of citrus. Myrcene, limonene and beta-caryophyllene are among the terpenes associated with this distinctive character.

Under favourable conditions, flowers may contain around 20–23% THC and 0–0.1% CBD. Individual experiences vary, but consumers commonly describe the effects as deeply relaxed, euphoric and happy, sometimes becoming sleepy as the experience develops. Potency, aroma and effects can differ according to the plant, growing environment and final flower quality.

Growing in New Zealand

This intermediate-level cultivar is best suited to growers who can monitor humidity, plant structure and nutrition consistently. New Zealand’s varied regional conditions mean the growing plan should account for local rainfall, wind and autumn temperatures. For outdoor cultivation, spring planting generally falls between September and November. Select a sunny, sheltered position with free-draining soil and good airflow around each plant.

Kosher Kush is suited to temperate settings as well as hotter, drier conditions. In humid or coastal districts, spacing, selective pruning and protection from prolonged rain can reduce the risk of mould around its compact flowers. Cooler southern areas may benefit from a position that captures as much direct sun as possible.

Indoor

Indoors, plants may reach up to 120 cm. Their indica-dominant growth tends to be compact, but some stretching can occur after flowering begins. Gentle training and an even canopy can help distribute light through the plant. Maintain steady air movement and avoid excessive humidity as flowers gain weight.

The flowering period is approximately 8–10 weeks. Indoor production may reach up to 550 g/m², although lighting, environment, plant health and grower experience all influence the final amount. Carbon filtration may be worth considering where strong earthy and skunky aromas need to be managed.

Outdoor

Outdoors, Kosher Kush may grow up to 180 cm with sufficient root space, sun and warmth. Support branches before flowers become heavy, particularly in exposed locations. A site with morning sun can help moisture leave foliage and flowers after dew or light rain.

Outdoor production may reach up to 550 g per plant in favourable conditions. These figures are potential upper ranges rather than assured outcomes. Container size, soil quality, seasonal weather, pests and time spent in direct sunlight can all affect performance.

Harvest

In New Zealand, outdoor harvest generally falls between March and May. Timing will vary by region, planting date and seasonal conditions. Monitor flower development closely as autumn approaches, especially where rain or cool nights are expected.

Harvest in stages if different branches reach maturity at different times. After cutting, keep flowers in a dark, ventilated area with stable conditions for gradual drying. Careful handling helps preserve the cultivar’s pungent earth, pine, spice and citrus character.
