Genetics & effects

Fire OG is commonly reported as OG Kush × San Fernando Valley OG Kush, with an approximate balance of 70% indica and 30% sativa. Catalogue figures place THC at 18–24% and CBD at 0–2%, although individual plants and finished flowers may vary.

Its aroma and flavour profile combines earth, pine, sweetness and a pungent finish. Myrcene, limonene and beta-caryophyllene are the principal terpenes associated with the variety. Experiences are subjective, but some consumers describe the effect as initially happy or euphoric before developing into a deeply relaxed, heavy sensation. Growing in New Zealand

New Zealand’s varied conditions make site selection important. Fire OG is associated with hot, dry and temperate climates, so it may perform best in a warm, sunny position protected from persistent wind and prolonged rain. Outdoor growers typically plan spring planting from September to November, once local temperatures are settled.

Humidity can rise quickly in many regions. Generous spacing, regular inspection and good airflow help reduce risk from mould, especially as flowers gain density. Its intermediate difficulty reflects the attention needed for canopy control, moisture management and aroma control. Indoor

Indoors, Fire OG may reach up to 150 cm. Early training and an even canopy can help make productive use of available light while limiting excessive vertical growth. Avoid crowding branches, and maintain steady air movement around developing flowers.

Choose a position with long sun exposure and drainage that does not leave roots saturated. Support may be useful as branches carry heavier flowers. In wetter districts, shelter from extended autumn rain and plenty of space between plants can help preserve flower quality.

Harvest

For a New Zealand outdoor cycle, harvest generally falls from March to May, depending on planting date, latitude, phenotype and seasonal weather. Watch flower maturity and local forecasts rather than relying on the calendar alone. Indoor crops are generally ready after the listed 9–10 week flowering phase. Careful drying in a dark, ventilated space helps retain Fire OG’s distinctive earthy, sweet and pine-led character.
