Growing in New Zealand

In New Zealand, spring planting generally falls between September and November. Choose a bright position, use free-draining growing media and keep airflow moving around the foliage. Autoflowers usually respond best to steady conditions because their limited vegetative period leaves less time to recover from major stress.

New Zealand conditions can shift quickly, so monitor moisture rather than following a rigid watering calendar. Allow the upper growing medium to dry slightly between waterings and avoid leaving roots saturated. In humid districts, generous spacing, light canopy management and shelter from prolonged rain may reduce the risk of mould.

Indoor

Indoors, plants may reach up to 140 cm and are listed with potential yields of up to 450 g/m² under suitable conditions. The flowering phase is approximately 8–10 weeks, though the complete seed-to-harvest cycle can be longer. A consistent light schedule, moderate feeding and stable temperature will generally suit this autoflower better than frequent changes.

Use a container with ample drainage and avoid repeated repotting. Gentle early shaping may help distribute light across the canopy, but hard training late in the cycle can slow growth. A carbon filter may be useful where the pungent, skunky aroma becomes pronounced.

Outdoor

Select a sunny, discreetly managed site with protection from strong wind. In cooler or wet locations, a movable container or covered growing area can provide greater control when autumn weather arrives.

Harvest

New Zealand’s typical outdoor harvest season runs from March to May. An autoflower may finish outside that window depending on its sowing date, local climate and development, while plants timed for a late-season finish may align with the usual autumn period. Check flower maturity directly rather than relying only on the calendar. At harvest, keep branches in a dark, ventilated area with controlled humidity and inspect regularly for excess moisture. Once dried and stabilised, the flowers should express their earthy citrus character, pungent Skunk aroma and dense indica-influenced structure.
