Growing in New Zealand

Because flowering is driven mainly by age rather than changing daylight hours, it can move through its cycle without a traditional photoperiod switch. For an outdoor run, spring planting falls between September and November. Conditions differ considerably from Northland to the lower South Island, so local temperatures, wind, rainfall and daylight should guide timing.
